Dr Matt Graham-Brown

Clinical Associate Professor of Renal Medicine and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist

Dr Graham-Brown is an Associate Professor of renal medicine in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Leicester and an Honorary Consultant Nephrologist at the University Hospitals of Leicester. He trained in Medicine at the University of Warwick as a postgraduate, having completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Birmingham. He completed Foundation training and core medical training in the West Midlands before moving to Leicester, initially as a higher specialist trainee in renal medicine before being appointed as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow and after his PhD was appointed as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer to continue his research whilst completing his clinical training. His research interests are aligned with his clinical interests in Cardiorenal disease, optimising lifestyle in chronic kidney disease, the cardiovascular and metabolic consequences of kidney transplantation and the use of advanced imaging techniques to detect cardiovascular disease in kidney disease. He supports research looking at how to improve advanced care planning and discussions for patients on haemodialysis and is leading work on implementing lifestyle interventions across primary and secondary care services for patients with kidney disease. He is an active member of a number of National committees and networks, including the UK Kidney Research Consortium and is co-chair of the UK Clinical Study Group for Cardiorenal Disease.
